1.Course description | |||||
Introduction to Life Sciences Experiment is the first experimental course designed for the first year undergraduates in the school of life sciences. The objects of this course are to help the freshmen to establish the proper understanding of life sciences experiments, and to strengthen their observation skills in the laboratory exercises. Some basic knowledge, such as the structures and functions of plant and animal cells, and the general concepts of the development and classification of living organism, are introduced in this course. Ideological and political objectives: 1. Cultivate students to be familiar with laboratory rules and regulations and laboratory safety and protection to enhance students' safety awareness. 2. Enhance students' sense of social responsibility and Cultivate students' overall view as future natural science practitioners. 3. Cultivate the driving force for students to take basic scientific research as their own responsibility and invest in scientific research, learning and innovative work.
2. Learning goals (including moral education goals)
Students are trained to acquaint techniques in making slides, dissecting animals, and using microscope. In addition, we introduce the applications of some model organisms, including Arabidopsis thaliana, and Danio rerio in the basic researches to the students, to fulfill their interest in the life sciences
