一、课程简介

 

本课程是针对生命科学专业本科生开设的一门专业选修课。课程以小班上课的形式,促进教师和学生的讨论和互动,并结合学生实际操作。本课程的主要知识点包括:秀丽线虫作为模式生物的生物学特性,秀丽线虫的形态、结构,秀丽线虫的基因与发育,秀丽线虫研究中常用的实验技术及方法四个部分。每部分的基本内容如下:1.秀丽线虫作为模式生物的生物学特性:理解模式生物共有的生物学特性,并通过实验来进一步了解秀丽线虫作为模式生物的生物学特性;2.秀丽线虫的形态、结构:理解秀丽线虫如何适应不同的生存环境,并通过实际操作和观察来了解不同组织和器官的形态和解剖学结构;3.秀丽线虫的基因与发育:理解秀丽线虫的个体的发育是受基因调控的,并在实验中观察和了解基因表达调控模式;4.秀丽线虫研究中常用的实验技术及方法:理解在秀丽线虫研究中所发展起来的实验技术及方法,了解实验技术及方法应用的范围和局限性,并在实验操作中亲身学习这些有用的技术和方法。

 

二、培养目标

 

本课程使学生掌握秀丽线虫作为模式生物的生物学特性,熟知其形态、结构和生长发育情况,认识其生长发育过程中基因表达调控的机制,并全面学习和了解秀丽线虫最新的研究方法和实验技术。通过这门理论联系实际的课程可以培养学生的科学精神和创新意识,使学生深刻认识模式生物在生命科学研究中所起到的重要作用,为其在未来的研究工作中正确选择实验材料和技术方法提供科学的指导。

 

三、课程思政目标

 

理论课上课过程中会穿插介绍我国科学家在秀丽线虫领域做出的重要成果和突出贡献,以此培养学生对科学的兴趣、科学精神和民族自豪感。实验课通过学生自己动手实验让学生及时将理论知识联系实际,培养学生的耐心、细心、动手能力以及对科学研究的兴趣。

 

四、教学方法

 

本课程采用多媒体课件讲解、课堂讨论、实验课实践、学生翻转课堂汇报文献等多种教学方法和形式综合,有助于学生掌握知识与方法,并在实践中加深理解。小班上课便于老师与学生之间的交流和互动。

六、考核方式与要求

成绩登记方式:百分制;成绩组成:理论课作业(4次,共占20%),实验操作考核(3次,共占15%),实验报告(8次,共占45%),文献阅读与汇报(1次,占20%)。考核标准:理论课作业和实验报告:学生上交后老师根据完成质量打分,实验操作考核:学生完成指定实验操作,老师根据实验结果的客观标准打分,文献汇报:学生阅读指定的英文文献,制作课件并汇报,老师根据其理解情况与汇报情况打分。

1.Course   description

This   course is a specialized elective course for undergraduates majoring in life   science. In the form of a small class, the course promotes the discussion and   interaction between teachers and students, and combines students' actual   operation. The main knowledge points of this course include: the biological   characteristics of C. elegans as a   model organism, the morphology and structure of C. elegans, the genes and development of C. elegans, and the experimental techniques and methods commonly   used in C. elegans research. The   basic contents of each part are as follows: 1. Biological characteristics of C. elegans as a model organism:   understand the common biological characteristics of model organisms, and   further understand the biological characteristics of C. elegans as a model organism through experiments; 2. Morphology   and structure of C. elegans:   understand how C. elegans adapt to   different living environments, and understand the morphology and anatomical   structure of different tissues and organs through experiments and   observation; 3. Genes and development of C.   elegans: understand that the individual development of C. elegans is regulated by genes, and   observe and understand the regulation mode of gene expression in the   experiment; 4. Experimental techniques and methods commonly used in the study   of C. elegans: understand the   experimental techniques and methods developed in the study of C. elegans, understand the scope and   limitations of the application of experimental techniques and methods, and   learn these useful techniques and methods in the experimental operation.

2. Learning goals

This course will   enable students to master the biological characteristics of Caenorhabditis elegans as a model   organism, be familiar with its morphology, structure, growth and development,   and understand the mechanism of gene expression regulation in the process of   growth and development, and comprehensively learn and understand the latest   research methods and experimental techniques of C. elegans. Through integrating theory with practice, this course   can cultivate students' scientific spirit and innovative consciousness. Students   can deeply understand the important role of model biology in life science research,   and provide scientific guidance for them to correctly select experimental   materials and technical methods in future research work.

3. Moral education goals

During the lecture courses, I will introduce some important   achievements and outstanding contributions made by Chinese scientists in the   field C. elegans in order to cultivate students' interest in science,   scientific spirit and national pride. In the experiment courses, students can   combine theoretical knowledge with practice through hands-on experiments, and   cultivate students' patience, carefulness, hands-on ability and interest in   scientific research.

4.Teaching approaches

This course adopts a variety of teaching   methods and forms, such as multimedia courseware explanation, classroom   discussion, experiments, students' flipping classroom journal presentation, etc., which is helpful for students   to master knowledge and methods and deepen their understanding in practice. Small   class facilitates the communication and interaction between teacher and   students.

6. Assessment methods   and requirements

Grading   plan: hundred-mark system; Score composition: lecture assignments (4 times,   accounting for 20%), experimental operation assessments (3 times, accounting   for 15%), experimental reports (8 times, accounting for 45%), literature   reading and presentation (1 time, accounting for 20%). Assessment criteria:   lecture homework and experimental reports: after the students hand it in, the   teacher scores according to the execution quality. Experimental operation   assessment: the students complete the specified experimental operation, and   the teacher scores according to the objective criteria of the experimental   results. Literature reading and presentation: the students read the specified   English literature, make slides and present, and the teacher scores according   to their understanding and presentation.
